Krishna

Unlike Rama, who wasn't aware

that He was a reincarnation of

Vishnu, Krishna was completely

aware of His divinity from birth.

Every day of His life was full of

miracles as he embodied everything

a God should be, He was loving,

wise and powerful. Some regard

Krishna as a Supreme Being and

thus worship Him, this is called

Krishnaism.

Lord Vishnu incarnates himself as

Krishna whom is the central

character in the epic Mahabharata.

The Mahabharata deals with more down to earth issues like politics, human nature and human weaknesses.

The birth of Krishna is a well told story within the Hindu faith. Mother Earth became upset with the people on earth destroying the land and therefore asked for help from Lord Vinshu. Mother Earth took the form of a cow and asked Lord Vishnu for help. Lord Vishnu agreed to help her and promised her that he would be born on Earth.

The King of the Yadava clan, named Kansa, heard a loud voice from the sky prophesie that the son of his sister will kill him. Kansa sent his sister and her husband to the prison. While there were in the prison, Lord Vishnu appeared to them, telling them that he would be their child and thus kill Kansa and destroy the sin within the world. The same night Krishna was born, the goddess Durga was born to Nanda and Yashoda. As Krishna's life was in danger,  Krishna was secretly taken out of the prison cell and swapped with Durga at birth.

The video below, titled 'Birth of Krishna - Sri Krishna In English - Animated/Cartoon Stories For Kids' is a good way to retell this story.
